'Karen Uhlenbeck' First Woman to receive most prestigious 'Abel Prize'

For the 1st time, the most prestigious 'Abel' prize has been awarded to a woman- Karen Uhlenbeck, 76, a Mathematician & professor at the University of Texas; known for her work with partial differential equations. Her research led to revolutionary advances in math & physics. Abel prize is awarded by the King of Norway to mathematicians who have greatly influenced the field with a cash prize of 6 million Norwegian kroner.
