Mohammed Shami's US visa rejected, gets approved after BCCI letter

Mohammed Shami's visa application was first rejected by US embassy due to his incomplete police verification records. Shami was charge-sheeted by Kolkata police under Section 498A (dowry harassment) and 354A (sexual harassment) after an FIR filed by wife Hasin Jahan last year. However, BCCI CEO Rahul Johri had to write a letter, citing the pacer's achievements for the approval and only then his visa was approved.
