SC dismisses plea against appointment of next CJI, also allows live streaming of proceedings

Before retirement, CJI Dipak Misra suggested Justice Ranjan Gogoi’s name as the next Chief Justice of India but a plea challenging his appointment was filed and the court today has dismissed the petition. The SC also allowed live streaming of the proceedings, saying that it is the right of the public to know about the proceedings and will soon make rules for balancing rights of public and protecting dignity of litigants.
