Taylor Swift is an American Singer and Songwriter from the United States known for her inspirational song lyrics. Taylor Swift is popularly known as Swifty, Aly, Tails, TayTay, T-Swift, and Tay. She is one of the most popular and successful pop stars in the United States. 

Bio and Date of Birth: 

Taylor Alison Swift was born on December 13, 1989, in West Reading, Pennsylvania. She was born to Scott Kingsley Swift {father), a former stockbroker for Merrill Lynch, Andrea Gardner Swift (mother), a home-maker. Taylor Swift was named after singer-songwriter James Taylor, and she has Scottish heritage. She comes from a family of artists. Taylor's grandmother Marjorie Finlay was an American opera singer. Taylor's brother Austin Swift is also an actor.

Taylor Swift started singing at the age of 10. She sang "The Star-Spangled Banner" at a Philadelphia 76ers basketball game at the age of 11 and started writing her own songs. Taylor also started learning guitar at the age of 12. 

She attended preschool and kindergarten at the Alvernia Montessori School. Next, she went to The Wyndcroft School. Taylor and her family shifted to a lakefront house in Hendersonville, Tennessee, when she was 14. There she attended Hendersonville High School.

 

Career 

Taylor Swift's musical career started in 2004 when she started working with experienced Music Row songwriters such as Troy Verges, Brett Beavers, Brett James, Mac McAnally, and the Warren Brothers. Taylor was still in school when she started writing songs. She became the youngest artist to be signed by the Sony/ATV Tree publishing house. She was hired by Big Machine Records and started working on her eponymous debut album. She wrote three of the album's songs herself.

Her second studio album, Fearless, came out on November 11, 2008. She released five singles between 2008 and 2009 and has never looked back since then. All five singles receive remarkable responses from the audience. She also featured on John Mayer's single "Half of My Heart" and Boys Like Girls' single "Two Is Better Than One". Taylor also co-wrote the two singles. 

The next few years were all shiny and glittery for Swift, who released numerous singles and albums during the period. 

In August 2010, Swift released "Mine", the lead single from her third studio album, Speak Now. It was at the third spot on the US Billboard Hot 100. The great thing about the album was that she wrote the album alone. 

The pop singer won Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance for "Mean" at the  54th Annual Grammy Awards in 2012.

In August 2012, she released "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together", the lead single from her fourth studio album, Red. It became her first number one in the US and New Zealand. 

Swift moved to New York in March 2014 to work on her fifth studio album, 1989, with producers Jack Antonoff, Max Martin, Shellback, Imogen HeapRyan Tedder, and Ali Payami. A whopping 1.28 million copies of 1989 got sold in the country.

Whether it is her relationships or the disputes with production companies, Swift never fails to make it to the headlines. Swift's dating life started in 2005 when she came into a relationship with Brandon Borello. Since then, she's dated many actors and media personalities. She is currently in a relationship with actor Joe Alwyn, whom she started dating in 2017.

 

Awards and Achievements:

Taylor Swift has won 11 Grammy Awards and an Emmy Award. She also holds the record for winning most American Music Awards (32). Apart from this, she has also won 23 Billboard Music Awards, 28 Guinness World Records, 2 Country Music Association Awards, 8 Academy of Country Music Awards, and a Brit Award.

She became the first woman to be honored with an award named after its recipient at the 64th BMI Awards in 2016. The famous pop singer has sold over 50 million albums, including 37.3 million in the United States. Swift has sold over 150 million singles worldwide. She is also the longest-reigning act of Billboard Artist 100 with 44 weeks at number one. Swift was also included on Time's 100 most influential people in 2010, 2015, and 2019.
