Former Reserve Bank governor C Rangarajan expressed his concern over the ailing state of the economy and said that reaching the $5-trillion GDP target by 2025 was "simply out of question". The economy witnessed a continuous slowdown from 8.2 percent in FY 16 to 6.8 percent FY 19. The former governor said that in order to double the GDP, the growth rate must be in excess of 9, while it is currently under 6%.
