Bank strike affects clearance of cheques worth Rs 20,000 crores

All India Bank Employees' Association has stated that cheques worth about Rs 20,000 crore could not be cleared by the clearing houses all over the country due to the strike by central trade unions on January 8 and 9. The banks are striking work to protest against various policies of the Central Government. The association said that bad loans amounting to over Rs 13 lakh crore were a big problem for the banks.
