Facebook settles privacy concerns with the US FTC; to pay a record $5 billion

Facebook is all set to pay a record $5 billion in order to settle privacy concerns with the US FTC & will also have to establish an independent privacy committee that Mark Zuckerberg will not have control over. The US consumer regulator, FTC investigated the Cambridge Analytica data breach and announced a lawsuit against it. The $5 bn fine is one of the largest regulatory penalties ever imposed by the US Govt on any firm.
