For first time in history, Rupee hits 80 to the US dollar

The Indian rupee on Tuesday for the first time in history hit a significant level of 80 to the US dollar. At 9.10 am, the rupee was trading at 80.01 a dollar. It opened at 79.99 and touched a fresh record low of 80.02. The crude oil prices surged over 5% overnight after Saudi Arabia declined to commit to output increases following a visit by US president Joe Biden.
