Samy Bengio, the former Artificial Intelligence researcher at Google who resigned after the firings of fellow scientists Margaret Mitchell and Timnit Gebru, has been hired by Apple. Bengio is likely to lead a new AI research unit at Apple under John Giannandrea, senior vice president of machine learning and AI strategy. Bengio gave his services at Google for 14 years before leaving the firm last week.
