GST collections touched a record-high of over Rs 1.15 lakh crore in December 2020 since the new tax system was implemented. This also shows that the economy continues to reflate after a strict lockdown. The ministry said that the continued rise in the Goods and Services Tax mop-up, is due to the combined effect of rapid economic recovery post-pandemic and the drive against GST evaders.
