India had raised duties on 28 American products such as American apples, walnuts, chickpeas, lentils, boric acid, diagnostic reagents after deferring them many times in the last year. This move was in response to the US imposing an additional global tariff on 25% and 10% on import of steel and aluminium products respectively. The US has now dragged India to the WTO for the less favourable treatment to its products.
