Amazon considers installing 2 machines at a dozen more warehouses, that employs more than 2000 people in at least 24 roles at each one. This would amount to more than 1300 cuts across 55 US fulfilment centres for std-sized inventory. The machines scan goods coming down a conveyor belt & envelopes them seconds later in boxes custom-built for each item. The new machines are called 'CartonWrap' that can pack 600-700 boxes/hour.
