The Indian government, on Friday, clarified its position on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in digital news entities. The Ministry of Commerce and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) noted that digital news media entities would have to comply with the 26% cap on FDI. Further, FDI in digital news outlets would have to come through the government approval route.
