PepsiCo files case against potato farmers over violation of IPR

The multinational food giant, PepsiCo India Holdings Pvt Ltd., has filed a case against a group of farmers in Gujarat. The giant has alleged that the potato farmers have violated the intellectual property rights of a plant variety registered under the Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights Act, 2001. 4 potato growers are allegedly growing potato-FL 2027, which it claimed exclusive rights.
