Former RBI governor Raghuram Rajan described the coronavirus pandemic as the "greatest emergency since Independence". He said government should prioritise spending on the poor, and cut back on or delay less important expenditure. Rajan says spending on the poor is the "right thing to do" even though the government's resources are strained. He further said if everything is run by PM office, "it will do too little, too late."
