RBI assigns Deputy governor BP Kanungo to run Monetary policy after Archarya quits

The Reserve Bank of India has named deputy governor BPL Kanungo to run the monetary policy portfolio after the resignation of fellow deputy governor Viral Acharya. It is learnt that Acharya left six months before the scheduled end of his term, citing personal reasons for his departure. Kanungo will retain his currency management portfolio and would become the sixth member of the committee which will convene in August.
