RBI announces tender for device to help visually impaired identify banknotes

In order to help visually impaired people easily identify Indian currency notes, RBI is trying to develop a suitable device or mechanism to provide mobile phone solutions. A tender inviting vendor for developing a mechanism or device for identification of denomination of Indian banknotes has also been announced by RBI. The device should tell the visually impaired the denomination of the note when held near it.
