Rs.2000 increment in salaries of MNREGA workers, construction workers to be benefitted by welfare funds

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a hike in wages under the MNREGA scheme. "Each labour will get Rs 2000 raise in wages. 5 crore families are expected to be benefited. The centre ordered the states to use Rs.31,000 crore welfare fund for construction workers. Centre further requested states to use district mineral fund to augment medical testing and screening. Sitharaman said the fund targets poorest of the poor.
