Sensex closes at 53,134 points, Nifty settles at 15,811

On Tuesday, the Indian equity benchmarks settled lower after reversing the initial gains. While Sensex fell 100 points or 0.19% to settle at 53,134, the Nifty went down 25 points or 0.15% to end at 15,811. The midcap stocks also witnessed a downward trend with the Nifty Midcap 100 dropping 0.27%. The Indian rupee (INR) slipped by 0.52% to settle at Rs. 79.36 against the US Dollar in the forex trade on Tuesday.
