Snapchat silently buys AI Factory for $166 million, the company behind its Cameos feature

Snapchat silently bought AI Factory for $166 million, a computer vision startup that created its new Cameos animated selfie-based video feature. Cameos was launched last month. It allows you to take a selfie & then it is automatically animated & inserted into a short video. Snapchat had been an investor in AI Factory. Snapchat earlier acquired Ukraine startup Looksery in 2015 to supercharge animated selfie lenses in Snapchat.
