The e-commerce giant, Amazon wanted to strengthen its data center business in India and so infused Rs 1,380 Cr ($198.2 Mn) in Amazon Data Services India. This has come at the time when the Indian government is taking strict steps on data localization and urging international firms to install their data centers in India. The investment will also help it to compete with the increasing popularity of Alibaba Cloud in India.
