Voice assistant startup Snips acquired by Sonos for $37 million, won't compete with Alexa

Smart speaker brand Sonos has acquired voice assistant startup Snips in a cash deal worth $37 million. Sonos will get a European office with over 50 staff as well as voice-specific patents through the deal. CEO Patrick Spence said that the company is not planning to compete with Amazon's Alexa or Google Assistant. Snips' voice recognition and natural language understanding features will be used by Sonos.
