World Bank's Global Findex report observed that more women than men have bank accounts in Argentina, Georgia, Indonesia, Laos, Mongolia, and the Philippines. This is due to payments from government programme and in case of the Philippines, remission of money for managing household by women working overseas. Meanwhile, most Indian women's accounts were found to be dormant despite a declined gender gap in opening accounts.
