BMC collected over Rs. 30 crore as fines from people not wearing masks

People are adamant about not wearing masks despite a rapid surge in cases of the novel coronavirus in states like Maharashtra and Kerala. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) collected as much as Rs. 29 lakh from 14,600 people for not wearing face masks on Tuesday. BMC has collected a whopping Rs. 30.5 crore in fine from over 15 lakh persons for not wearing masks since March 2020, when the outbreak began.
