A Chennai-based study by the Indian Council of Medical Research has found that the highly contagious Delta variant of Covid-19 can infect both vaccinated and unvaccinated people. However, the mortality rate is low among vaccinated people. The Institutional Ethics Committee of ICMR-National Institute of Epidemiology approved the study that found Delta variant as the reason behind the breakthrough infection in vaccinated people.
