First local cases of Delta variant of Covid recorded in Philippines

Philippines, one of the worst affected countries by coronavirus, has reported its first local cases of the highly infectious delta variant. Philippines’ health undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the country has 16 new cases of the Delta variant and 11 of these cases have been transmitted locally. The remaining five patients of the Delta variant are Filipinos who came back from UK, UAE and Qatar.
