India registers 44,658 new COVID-19 cases, 496 deaths in last 24 hours

India recorded as many as 44,658 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total caseload to 3,26,03,188. The active cases tally has been pushed to 3,44,899 and accounts for 1.03 percent of total infections in the country. 496 fatalities were recorded in the same time period, pushing the death toll to 436,861. The daily positivity rate is 2.45 percent whereas the recovery rate stands at 97.60 percent.
