A Supreme Court bench headed by Justice DY Chandrachud has directed the central and the state governments to ensure that no patient shall be denied hospitalisation or essential drugs due to lack of local residential or identity proof. The court also ordered the centre and the states to consider imposing a fresh lockdown to curb the spread of the pandemic. The apex court has given the governments 4 days to create emergency stocks.
