Health authorities across the world were hopeful of achieving herd immunity as recovery count continued to surge. The perception was that vaccinating 70% to 80% population will help countries achieve herd immunity but the highly contagious Delta variant has led to a fresh surge in cases across the world. "Will we get to herd immunity? No, very unlikely, by definition," said Greg Poland, director of the Vaccine Research Group.
