Sonia Gandhi retains Rae Bareilly seat while BJP's Rajnath Singh wins big in Lucknow

Former Congress President Sonia Gandhi remained unbeaten in her stronghold Rae Bareilly where she was contesting against BJP's Dinesh Pratap Singh who switched from Congress to BJP right before the Lok Sabha election. However, in Lucknow BJP had the last smile as Rajnath Singh celebrated huge victory over Poonam Sinha of Samajwadi Party. Congress candidate Acharya Pramod Krishna received 1,78,904 votes.
