The Indian Performing Rights Society (IPRS), a body that represents composers, musicians and lyricists alleged that Yash Raj Films has “prevented the body from collecting royalties" and filed an FIR against the production house. Music composer Salim Merchant said he and Sulaiman refused to work with YRF for four years since it has failed to pay royalties owed to them. Salim also accused Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series of not paying royalties.
