An orphaned newborn orca that captivated New Zealanders has been farewelled at a special ceremony and brought away for burial, bringing an end to a desperate search for its pod. Toa, a young calf with minor injuries, became trapped on rocks north of Wellington two weeks ago. Before Toa's remains were carried away for burial, scores of people attended a dawn service at Plimmerton Boating Club on Saturday.
