The Pygmy Hog is the world's tiniest pig and was found in the grasslands of the Himalayan foothills. Their numbers declined in the following decades after they were found in 1859, and were considered to be extinct. But according to National Geographic research, they are now becoming a part of the ecology in the northeastern province of Assam. The Pygmy Hog Conservation Programme's project director, Parag Deka, is based in Guwahati.
