One-third of tropical plants in Africa are heading towards extinction, a new study has warned. Researchers suggest out of more than 22,000 vascular plant species, near about 7,000 are now classified as 'likely or potentially' threatened. The huge losses of biodiversity, increasing human population growth, changes in land use and the ill-effect climate change are the main reasons behind these plants’ disappearance.
