Cannes 2019: Prestigious award Palme d'Or goes to Bong Joon-ho's Parasite film

South Korean director Bong Joon-ho has won the Cannes film festival's most prestigious award-the Palme d'Or, for his film Parasite, a dark comedy thriller exploring social class dynamics. Bong is the 1st Korean director to have won the top award at Cannes after his last appearance in competition with Okja in 2017. He is best known for previous films Okja & Snowpiercer. The Grand Prix, the runners up award went to Mati Diop.
