Chhath Puja banned by Jharkhand government in water bodies over coronavirus scare

The Jharkhand state government led by Hemant Soren has banned the Chhath Puja in water bodies in the state to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus. The state government said in a notification that the decision has been taken as it would not be possible to maintain social distancing in the water bodies. Bursting of firecrackers at public places and setting up stalls on the bank of water bodies has also been banned.
