Children will wake up in jail if they abandon elderly parents in Bihar

The Cabinet of Bihar led by CM Nitish Kumar has approved a proposal according to which the children will be punished with a jail term if they abandon their elderly parents. The proposal of Bihar Social Welfare Department has terms for sentences which could go up to imprisonment if children do not look after their parents in their old ages. The proposal also said FIR by parents would be filed under the non-bail able section.
