Last month was our planet’s second-hottest October in recorded history, as per a new study. Average global land and ocean surface temperatures were recorded 1.76 degrees above 20th-century average in October 2019. This is only 0.11 degrees behind the record set in October 2015 which is the highest since record-keeping started in 1880. It’s almost certain that 2019 will end among the top 5 warmest years in history.
