The magnetic north pole is moving closer to Siberia due to two writhing lobes of magnetic force in Earth's core, claims new study. Researchers uncovered the reason for this mysterious movement down south after measuring the north pole's position since James Clark Ross first identified it near the Boothia Peninsula in Canada’s Nunavut territory in 1831. It has shifted 9 miles at most to as much as 37 miles in a year.
