Indian Army receives consignment of 6,000 Israeli Negev Light Machine Guns amid border standoff with China

The Indian Army got the first 6,000 Israeli Negev Light Machine Guns out of the 16,000 that were ordered last year. The LMGs were procured under the Fast Track Procedure. The delivery of 16,000 guns is expected to be completed by March 2021. Defence Acquisition Council headed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had okayed the procurement of the guns in March 2019. As many as 16,479 LMGs will be procured at a cost of Rs. 880 crore.
