Marble from Makrana, Rajasthan, renowned worldwide for its fine quality that is credited to Taj Mahal's beauty is now Asia's first Global Heritage Stone Resource & confirmed by the IUGS. GHSR status seeks international recognition of natural stone resources that have been used widely in human culture; 15 such stones have been identified previously. Makrana marble is the 1st stone resource from India & Asia to get GHSR status.
