A new study suggests the novel coronavirus was already spreading in Brazil in early February, weeks before than initially detected, and just ahead of millions of people were partying in the streets for carnival. Brazil is Latin America’s hardest-hit country in the pandemic, with more than 11,500 deaths and 168,000 infections recorded so far. Experts believe lack of testing means the real figures are far higher.
