Scientists claim they might have discovered why stress turns hair white, and there’s a way of stopping it without any dye. In tests in mice, stem cells that usually control skin and hair colour were damaged by stress from intense pain. The effects are linked to melanocyte stem cells which produce melanin and suppressing a specific protein, cyclin-dependent kinase, may delay the onset of grey hair using targeted drug.
