The Central government has okayed an underwater research project to find how the Ram Setu, a 48 km long chain of shoals between India and Sri Lanka that is considered holy in the Hindu community, was formed. Ram Setu or Adam’s Bridge or Nala Setu is a bridge-like structure between Pamban Island, off the south-eastern coast of Tamil Nadu, India, and Mannar Island, off the north-western coast of Sri Lanka.
