Ayodhya

Listed among the holiest place in India Ayodhya is the birthplace of Lord Rama. It is located in Uttar Pradesh and has been the capital of the ancient 'kingdom of Kosala'. It also became an important center for preachers including Mahavir and Gautam Buddha.

Ayodhya is a place with a great history and a place of controversies simultaneously. According to historians, in the 16th century, the Mughal Emperor Babur built Babri Masjid in Ayodhya which is demolished by some Hindu activists in 1992. The activists claiming that the masjid (mosque) was built on the janmabhoomi (birthplace) of Lord Rama. It took the shape of riots and many people lost their lives in it. Ram Janmabhoomi and Babri Masjid was one of the lengthy disputes of the country and has always been in the limelight which solved in November 2019.

Moreover, Ayodhya is also a pilgrimage destination, Hanuman Garhi Fort, Kanak Bhawan, and many other temples attracts devotees from all over the country. The holy river Saryu that flows through its center is believed to wash the impurities of the people. People of Ayodhya enthusiastically celebrate the birth of Lord Rama on Ramnavmi.

Ayodhya is not just another place but a sacred destination for the religious people.
