Aadhaar now mandatory for PAN

Amid several uncertainties and protest emerging from various walks of the society, the government has notified that it will be mandatory to link Aadhaar details with Permanent Account Number (PAN) cards of taxpayers from July 1. The rules will come into force on July 1, 2017, the revenue department said while amending Rule 114 of the I-T Act, which deals with application for allotment of PAN.
