PM Modi announced that the African Union (AU) has been given permanent membership in the Group of 20 largest economies (G20) in the world during the opening session of the two-day G20 Summit. "Honoured to welcome the African Union as a permanent member of the G20 Family. This will strengthen the G20 and also strengthen the voice of the Global South", PM Modi wrote in a recent tweet.
