History created after 40 years when an Air India flight landed at Jaffna international airport after 40 years, opening a new chapter in the 2000-year-old relationship between the 2 countries. EAM S Jaishankar called it a historic moment that will bring India & SriLanka closer and congratulated AI for its inaugural flight to Jaffna. The airport was declared open by President Maithripala Sirisena and PM Ranil Wickremesinghe.
