Congress Party seems to be losing its hold in the northeast as Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee president Govindas Konthoujam has resigned from his post. As per the reports, at least 8 Congress MLAs are going to join the Bharatiya Janata Party today. This is a major setback for Congress ahead of the assembly elections that are scheduled to take place next year. Congress had failed to form the government after previous elections.
