Senior BJP leader Basavaraj Bommai took oath as the 23rd Chief Minister of Karnataka, replacing his senior in the party, BS Yediyurappa, who tendered his resignation after the orders of the party high command. Bommai was appointed as the CM during a Legislature Party meet in Bengaluru where several key leaders including Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan were present. Bommai is said to be a close aide of Yediyurappa.
